FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz.—Thunderbird Artists, a leading producer of outdoor fine art festivals and wine tasting events, today announced the appointment of professional artist Merilee Adams as the exclusive consultant for the second annual Arizona Fine Art EXPO. The 10-week event, which begins on Jan. 14, 2005, and will take place on the southeast corner of Pinnacle Peak and Scottsdale Roads in Scottsdale, will feature 115 world-class artists in a working studio environment.
As exclusive consultant for the expo, Adams will work with numerous contractors to develop the décor, landscape and structures throughout the venue. She will also help with the design for the sculpture garden, Café de EXPO and Artists’ Marketplace.
“We’re thrilled to have someone of Merilee’s talent and artistic knowledge. Her extensive experience in combining functionality with world-class design is a valuable asset that is sure to enhance the viewing experience and overall ambiance of this event,” said Judi Combs, president of Thunderbird Artists.
“Having a chance to not only participate in the expo as an artist but also as a consultant is a wonderful opportunity to combine two aspects of my career,” remarked Adams. “I welcome the challenge and look forward to creating an elegant visual experience for patrons to enjoy.”
One of the highlights of the expo is the sculpture garden, which will offer attendees unprecedented access to some of the world’s most gifted designers, painters, sketcher artists and sculptors. Patrons can dine alongside a life-sized bronze or sip cappuccino among working artists sculpting clay, painting, welding, blowing glass, designing jewelry and more! All the while, relaxing music will resonate throughout the venue, creating an ideal ambiance for fine-art viewing.
As a professional artist, Merilee Adams’ original designs have evolved to embrace innovative horizons that make use of such diverse materials as fabrics, fibers, wood and metals, as well as form and texture. Past studio work has concentrated on the innovative concept of wall facades to create a harmonic setting through an artistic manipulation of space. Her distinctive sculptures – frequently said to show a subtle influence of Frank Lloyd Wright – exude a sense of artistic adventure. Adams’ prized paintings, created in acrylic on textured canvas, hang in private and corporate collections across the country.
